• the band themselves leaked it so stop bitching about it
• the record label leaked it with permission of the band so stop bitching about it

It’s been a while since theres been new music out and the new music video for this song saved my life is taking longer than expected so what do to what to do to keep the fan base interested and people talking about the band and being interested about what’s going on after a long silence music wise. hah here’s an idea RELEASE SOME SONGS THAT WERE RECORDED BUT NOT MASTERED YET! it’s NOT the best quality OUT THERE but IT DOES the TRICK because EVERYONE is talking about it. Either bitching and moaning about the fact that the songs have leaked and OH EM GEE THOSE WHO LISTEN TO IT WILL GO STRAIGHT TO HELL or its OMG I AM IN HEAVEN I LOVE THOSE NEW SONGS. And Every fan wants to either hear them or talk about not wanting to listen to it!

Now with this being cleared up and this ending today’s lesson of how the industry works, let’s mosey along and do something constructive with your lives.

actually it’s the promoters that need to get the bands to the states. If the demand isn’t there, promoters won’t invest in the band actually COMING to the states. It’s as simple as that really. Promoters need to invest in venue, promo, pay local crew, pay ticket master, printers etc… to get the word out that the band IS performing. Then they HOPE that the ticket sale will be HIGH enough for them to at least break even which means for those that dont understand the term no gain but no loss either money wise. 

So here’s some advice for you american fans that like to bitch about European fans and that the boys come here! START REQUESTING THEIR SONGS ON RADIO! WHEN the demand keeps being there THE RADIO HAS TO LISTEN AND BUY THE DAMN SINGLE!

Before i begin my actual post, let me put it out there that I FULLY understand the feelings of US fans concerning the lack of simple plan tour dates and a full headlining tour in the USA. But let me tell you how the music industry works, and this time i’m using Simple Plan as an example, but in reality it works the same for any band really. 

Now with that being said, let’s not forget that simple plan IS a business. The problem with the US market is, and always will be, that there are too many bands popping up left and right. This is called an over saturation of the market. With too many bands rising to the top, it’s hard for any band to keep their fan base. Tweens and Teens tend to jump bands rather fast because most like to get new music or go with what’s new and to be honest, 2 to 3 years waiting is for teens and tweens A LOT of time to get a new album out. Most of those waiting grow up and discover new music and the majority sticks to the new genre they’ve discovered. 

Now let’s talk promotion. When a band has been gone for such a long time, it is hard for radio stations and tv stations to give them the time of day, because also for them 3 years is A LONG time to disappear from the scene! With foreign bands, who dont live in LA and are in the spotlight of the paparazzi ALL the time it’s easy to forget them. That fact and the saturation of the market by new bands makes it 10 times harder for ANY band to get back on the US wagon. 

CD sales AND radio play is what makes a band popular. As much as a band wants to play certain areas, if promoters aren’t willing to stick their neck out and book a band, plus all costs that come with it, renting a venue, paying local crew, printing tickets and posters, getting all kind of promo for the event, pay the crew, the transportation of the band and crew, merch person and the people working at the venue at the bar, warderobe, etcetera without being somewhat sure to at least break even, they’re not going to do it. It means they’ll end up losing a lot more money than they invested in and nobody WORKS FOR FREE! 

So they go places where they ARE making money and where they are demanded. Let’s be honest here, if you were a carpenter and in your home town, there wasn’t any work for you, you’d move to a place where they offer said jobs so you can make money and pay your bills. 

So IF US fans WANT the boys back in the USA, Youre going to have to group together and bombard every single radio station there is and ask them to play the boys. The fans HAVE the power, they just dont really seem very keen on using their power except for a few. YOU start demanding like crazy, THEY have to play them eventually! it’s simple as that 

A new study undertaken by the University of Minnesota has suggested that listening to mainstream rock music can make people ‘racist’.

Researchers played a host of different music genres to 138 students for seven minutes. The students were then told they were part of a study to work out how funds should be distributed within their college. Then they were offered a range of different ethnic groups to divide the money between, reports the Daily Mail. 

Apparently, after listening to mainstream rock music like Bruce Springsteen, the white students favoured other white students in regards to sharing college funds, over black and Latino students. Meanwhile, the white students who had listened to more ethnically diverse pop, including Akon and Gwen Stefani, were fairer towards other ethnic groups. 

Heather LaMarre, assistant professor of journalism and mass communication at the University of Minnesota said of the study: “Rock music is generally associated with white Americans, so we believe it cues white listeners to think about their positive association with their own in-group.”

Associate professor Silvia Knobloch-Westerwick added: “Music has a lot of power to influence our thoughts and actions, more than we often recognise. It has the power to reinforce our positive biases toward our own group, and sometimes negative biases toward others.”

After listening to the background music, with no phones or reading material as a distraction, the participants were asked how their tuition money should be distributed amongst the Centres of African American Studies, Latino American Studies, Arab American Studies, and Rural and Agricultural Studies. 

The participants who listened to the mainstream rock gave 35% of the money to the white American group and equal amounts to the others, while those who listened to chart pop split the money equally.

I PERSONALLY THINK THIS IS BOGUS! i listen to rock music ALL THE TIME and i haven’t even been influenced to choose my color over another! seriously this study is based on bs in my humble opinion. I never was a racist nor will i ever become a racist. It doesnt matter what music you listen to, if youre a racist, nothing is gonna change that, if you aren’t a racist music isnt going to change that either! fuck these studies. who actually takes this seriously?

that sp has either amazing ideas or an amazing marketing team behind them because honestly, look at what summer paradise ft sean paul is doing in the sp community and beyond that. 

it was the CHEAPEST way to get word back out that Simple Plan is still here plus it got people talking about the song on tumblr and twitter which causes MASSIVE reach because everyone has ppl that arent sp fans that follow them so the majority is gonna wanna know what the commotion is about. 

The colab with sean paul pretty much garantees to get a song by simple plan played in clubs, which reaches an entire new audience. So basically it’s a win win situation. 

And dont give me crap it’s about the music because honestly it isnt. simple plan is a business like every other business and their job is to sell music so any way to reach more people is a good way. 

I have an opinion and i will share it in a respectful manner. I will voice it no matter what, especially if it differes from others.

If i hate something or dislike something about anyone or anything i will say it whether that makes me lovable or ppl hating me because opinions about me from ppl that dont know me litterally dont phase me.

simple plan spent a lot of time and effort in recording summer paradise with sean paul and if people are just going to bash over it, then you people just might as well keep your nasty comments to yourself. IM NOT SAYING THAT YOU ALL SHOULD LOVE THE NEW VERSION, IM JUST SAYING THAT WE SHOULD SUPPORT THEM WHATEVER DECISIONS THEY MAKE. GET IT NOW? GEEZ :))))

LMAO seriously a lot of time? first of all the lyrics were already written. So it took them about half a day to rerecord it. Maybe the approaching sean paul and listening to the proposed track and all that jazz together took them about a week or so. Which isnt an entire week they worked at it so it’s not that of a big deal as you are making it out to be. I’m  not saying they arent hard workers, it’s not as if they wrote an entire new song and recorded everything seperately like guitar lines, bass and drums and then vocals, listening to the rough cut, changing what needs to be changed and then waiting til it’s mastered and approved by the label. 

About opinions, everyone has the RIGHT to express their opinion in a mature manner. The part that our opinions differ is what makes us unique and nobody’s opinion should be shut down or bashed. You may discuss things but in the end you respect each others opinion. 

And there’s a HUGE difference, like 2 worlds apart difference, between supporting them all the way and HAVING to love EVERYTHING they do and worshipping the ground they walk on just because they happen to be Simple Plan. 

I dont like the version as much as i like the one with k’naan. And that is my god given natural born right to not like it. Does that mean i don’t love them unconditionally? Does that mean i’m going to stop going to their gigs? stop following them on twitter? NO it does NOT mean that. 

Just because you don’t like one thing about them, doesnt make you less of a fan than those who do love everything because to be honest, you cannot love everything about a person or a band. those who say they do, are just afraid to say the things they don’t like because theyre scared people are gonna jump them and attack them for having an opinion that differs from them
